\n Kristian underscores that no community is immune. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen trafficking in all backgrounds\u2014affluent neighborhoods, rural communities, urban centers, kids in care, even children from stable homes. Nobody\u2019s immune to it.\u201d<\/b>\n

\n He warns that one of the greatest barriers is disbelief: \u201cThis isn\u2019t a provincial or federal issue. It\u2019s right in your backyard.\u201d<\/b>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

For Kristian, prevention starts with connection. \u201cWhen children feel seen, safe, and supported\u2014whether through family, school, community groups, or even one trusted adult\u2014their risk of exploitation drops dramatically.\u201d<\/b>


Prevention is not just education; it\u2019s about building trust and consistent relationships. \u201cIt comes down to having those open, honest conversations early\u2014not just when there\u2019s a crisis.\u201d

Empowering Families, Not Controlling Them<\/b><\/h3>

Kristian challenges traditional models that focus on investigation and removal. \u201cWe need to move away from the idea of power over<\/i> families to power with<\/i> families,\u201d<\/b> he explains.

Families often can develop their own solutions when given the right supports. This community-centered approach emphasizes healing and partnership rather than punishment. \u201cRemoving children from their homes should never be the first option. It isolates them further and puts them at greater risk.\u201d

Indigenous Communities and Generational Healing<\/b><\/h3>

A significant part of Kristian\u2019s work focuses on Indigenous communities, where the effects of colonization and historical trauma are still felt. \u201cFifty percent of trafficking victims come from Indigenous communities,\u201d<\/b> he says.


Kristian stresses self-determination: \u201cWe must step back and let Indigenous people lead their own solutions. Our role is to support, not decide.\u201d<\/b>


Healing generational trauma is long work\u2014often measured in generations\u2014but restoring culture, identity, and community today changes outcomes for the future.

The Role of Community: It Takes All of Us<\/b><\/h3>

Protecting children is a shared responsibility. Kristian calls for a renewed sense of neighborhood trust and proactive community involvement.

He compares modern needs to the old block parent<\/b> programs: communities must provide both offline and online safe spaces where children know there is always someone to turn to.

From Awareness to Action<\/b><\/h3>

Kristian\u2019s message is simple: awareness alone won\u2019t prevent harm\u2014action will. Open dialogues, ongoing education, and compassion are essential.


Every conversation counts.<\/b> A parent asking about their child\u2019s day, a teacher noticing behavior changes, or a neighbor checking in\u2014these small acts of connection help stop exploitation before it starts.
